Moving forward…

In the words of Robert Frost ‘Life goes on’, and it is now that we have settled into our new routines, it is now that we have settled into our new lifestyles and our new budgets. That life has moved on.
But, what now?
I like to say ‘but, what why?’ instead of ‘but, what now?
Do, you remember your ‘Why?’
When you first started training, what was your ‘Why?’
Most people’s why’s sound a lot like these:
- I want to lose weight
- I want to feel strong and healthy
- I want to get fit
- I want to be a good role model for my kids
- I want to be able to get down on the ground and play with my grandkids
- I want to be more flexible
- I want to feel more confident
- I want to feel happier
And the list goes on and on and on…
Because, everyone is unique. Everyone is an individual. We all lead different lives and have different perspectives, different lifestyles and different opportunities. But, ultimately deep down inside we all want the same thing, to be healthy and happy.
And that is what has brought all the women that I train to Fit Shape Health and Wellness!
It is regular exercise that provides us with both of these elements.
Exercise has been proven to:
- Reduce stress
- Ward off feelings of anxiety and depression
- Boost self esteem
- Improve sleep
Exercise also has the following health benefits:
- It strengthens your heart
- It increases your energy levels
- Lowers your blood pressure
- It improves muscle tone and strength
- Strengthens and builds bones
- Helps reduce body fat
So, it only makes sense that now that we have started to settle into our ‘new normal’ that we revisit our ‘Why’s’ and reflect on whether or not we are still in the same place that we were when we first started training.
Is your ‘Why’ still the same? Or, has your ‘Why’ morphed into something else?
Is your ‘Why?’ now more about stress relief? Or ‘Me time’?
Or, are you craving that sense of connection and community that comes with working, socialising with family and friends, being a part of a community group or program or working out in a group? It’s true, unfortunately for now most of those activities have been put on hold, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still connect with others from the comfort of your own home.
Since this ‘restoration period’ began I have been providing all the women who are a part of my Fit Shape Pride the opportunity to not only continue to train and exercise with me virtually via Zoom. But I have also been providing them and myself the sense of connection and community that happens when a beautifully, diverse group of like-minded women get together each day to workout.

So, I’ll end this blog with one of my favourite quotes from Helen Keller:
‘Alone, we can do so little; together we can do so much’
And I look forward to seeing you all again via Zoom, soon!
