New to Training

Do you want to lose weight but have never exercise before. Not sure where or how to start? Well I’ve got the place for you! – Fit Shape Health & Wellness

I’ve had a few people asking me lately about my classes and what they involve. If you look through my website you will see a description of the classes but this doesn’t tell you how hard or easy they are or how you will feel during and after the class. You need to come and check it out for your self. We all have our own opinions on how hard or easy a class is. All my classes are suitable for beginners. I give modifications for exercises if you can do a certain one or if you have an injury. Yes, you maybe doing something that is different from other members but no one will care or say anything. As long as you are moving and you are doing the moves safely, that’s all that matters.

It can be a little intimidating when first starting an exercise program because you don’t know what to expect, you don’t know anyone, you may be feeling a little self conscious and unfit. But these feelings are normal. No ones going to be worried about what your doing because they are too busy worrying about themselves.

We have to jump out of our comfort zone in order to achieve our goals. It’s funny I’ve heard people use the excuse “I want to lose weight before I start at the gym” which is crazy to me because that’s why you go to the gym, to lose weight, but I’ve heard several times. Another great excuse I’ve heard is “I want to get fit but I don’t want to sweat” Seriously, Stop making excuses princess, bring a towel to wipe the sweat, wear deoderant, take a shower after training and harden up. I’ve got a sign up on my wall saying  “Sweat is fat crying”. Change the way you think about sweating. I tell my clients they are glissening.

I remember when I first started trying to lose weight. I started walking every Sunday afternoon (it was the only time I could leave the kids). I used to walk a 5km loop from my house. Then that walk became a walk and a jog. I started increasing my running distance by running to the corner of one street then the next time I went for my walk I would run to the corner of the next street and gradually I was running the whole 5km. I still remember that feeling of getting to the corner of my own street. My neighbors must of thought I was crazy cheering myself and punching the air.

My point is, if you push yourself out of your comfort zone just a little each time you can achieve great things. I was never a runner or an athlete. I was overweight, unfit and unhappy with myself. I decided to do something about it and don’t regret it one bit. Look where I am today, a Personal Trainer with 15 years experience. I am Fitter, healthier and thinner then when I had my kids.

Take a moment and write down what you really want and be specific as possible. Then you need to write down ways of how you can get what you want. So maybe a goal for you might be to increase your flexibility. Well your not going to go join a 24 hr gym that doesn’t have yoga classes. You would start looking for some where that has yoga or stretch classes right. There is something out there that suitable for everyone, you just have to be willing to TRY.

So if your willing to try something new come and see me.
Have an amazing day and hope to see you soon.
