Soul Inspiration – Looking in the Mirror
Have you ever been in a conversation with someone and all they have done is talked about themselves.
If you find this annoying you may find either the person you’re talking to is not your type of people or you have some underlying issues with what is being said.
When people talk about themselves, it triggers a neurological response in the brain. It lights up a part of the brain that makes them feel good. Self-disclosure is gratifying.
So what I’ve noticed lately looking through my own social media, especially instagram, is, I post a lot of pictures of me. Now social media is a form of communication and instagram is a visual form of communication. People will look at your pictures first and if it catches their eye, they’ll continue to read, same as a reel, if you capture someone’s attention in the first 3 seconds, they’ll continue to watch your video.
When you look at my instagram feed you can see it looks like it’s all about me because the photos are of me. But the truth is the content I post with the photos of me, is not always about me.
You see I’ve been in business as a personal trainer nearly 17 years and now in health & wellness coaching. When I first started in business I had to learn how to market my business. My content had to reflect the type of women I wanted to work with.
I had to know what their problems were and offer a solution to their problems through marketing my business on social media. But to market effectively and attract the right type of clients to my business I had to know who I wanted to work with and speak their language.
In marketing it’s called having a niche or avatar. In the beginning it was easy to find a niche because it was like looking in the mirror. I marketed to women who were in a similar positions to myself as I was on my weight loss journey, I was overweight, unhappy, lost and lacking confidence. I knew exactly what these women were going through because I had been there.
I knew their pain because I felt it, I knew their struggles because I had them too, I knew all their excuses because at some point I used them too, and most importantly I knew how I could help them because this is how I helped myself.
As I went through different stages of my life my business also went through different stages. The type of woman that I wanted to work with also changed, again, they were just a mirror image of where I had been on my journey and how I got myself through difficult situations and obstacles.
This has happened many times through my career. So here I am now, growing my online coaching business and looking for women I want to work with, my niche.
As I look into the mirror of the past me, I see the woman who felt stuck and confused about what she wanted in life completely transform and I can honestly say I am working everyday to live my best life and now with my online coaching I want to help women who are in a similar position to where I was and help the transform their life.
So even though the pictures on social media are of me it’s not really about me, I know what you’re going through and I know what it takes to change.
It’s not easy doing it alone and that’s why I am a coach, to help you get the results quicker and you don’t have to go through the mistakes like I did.
